How Can I Get Involved?

The goal of the Providence Tomorrow project is to find out what you want to see in your city and to use your input to make Providence a more livable city. Providence Tomorrow is about imagining what Providence can be and collaborating with your neighbors to create a vision for the future. We want to know what your ideas are for making Providence a better city, what you think your neighborhood could be like in twenty years, what issues you think are most important. But in order to incorporate your ideas we need to know what they are! We know that you have busy lives and that neighborhood planning is not on top of the list of priorities for many people, so we have designed a process that allows people to get involved at many levels.

Examples include:

  • Draft Interim Comprehenisve Plan - This will be available on-line until May 1, 2007.  Read through and submit your comments! (Note: Please be advised that this deadline does not preclude residents from submitting comments after May 1st.  Comments will continue to be accepted in writing and at public hearings in the coming weeks and months.  If you have any questions regarding the Comprehensive Plan or on how to provide comments, please click here or contact the Planning Division at 401-351-4300.)
  • Photographs – Take photos of your neighborhood and other places in the city – places you like, places you don’t like, and send them to us with labels telling us the location and whether it is a good or bad example.
  • Letters and email – Send us your ideas and concerns electronically by clicking here or, you can send a letter to the following address:

City of Providence, Department of Planning and Development
400 Westminster Street, 5th Floor
Providence, RI 02903

  • Meetings – This process has been designed it so that you can participate at any level: come to one meeting, come to them all, or come to the studio during the charrette week and talk one–on–one with one of the staff.
  • Last but not least, spread the word – Talk to your friends and neighbors and tell them about how they can be involved in Providence Tomorrow. .
