1. What is Providence Tomorrow?

Providence Tomorrow is an innovative and inclusive planning process designed to create a framework for growth and preservation of Providence neighborhoods.  It consists of two distinct parts: comprehensive planning and neighborhood planning. 2. Why is Providence Tomorrow important to the planning of our city?

Providence Tomorrow is important to the planning of Providence because of it’s intense focus on public input and outreach.  Providence Tomorrow offers the residents of Providence multiple ways to get involved and make their voices heard.  For more information on how you can participate, please visit our “Get Involved!” page.

3. What is a charrette?

A charrette is an intensive, interactive problem solving process with meetings convened around the development of specific plans.  Over the next 2 years, a key part of the Providence Tomorrow process will be conducting charrettes for each neighborhood in the city.  For more information about charrettes, click here.  For information on when your neighborhood charrette will take place, click here.

Neighborhood Planning

1. When is my neighborhood meeting?

A tentative schedule of all upcoming neighborhood charrettes is available here.  Please note that charrette dates are subject to change, so please check back as the date for your neighborhood draws closer.

2. I missed the charrette for my neighborhood/I know I will not be able to attend any of the scheduled sessions for my neighborhood charrette. 

How can I participate? Miss the charrette for your neighborhood? Don’t worry! There are still other ways in which you can participate!  Please visit our “Get Involved” page for more information on how you can make your voice heard.

3. What will the outcome be of the neighborhood charrettes? 

These charrettes will be used as the basis for new neighborhood-specific plans, which will outline the residents’ vision for how they would like to see their neighborhoods grow as well as an action plan for how that vision can be achieved.

4. How will the neighborhood plans relate to the comprehensive plan and other guiding documents in the city? 

The comprehensive plan sets citywide goals and objectives for housing, the arts, jobs, sustainability, the waterfront, land use and other areas, and establishes an overall vision and general policies for the city.  The neighborhood pla
