 | The plan was created from input received during the Hope, Mount Hope and Blackstone neighborhood planning charrette, which was held September 24-27, 2007. Approximately 150 residents and business owners came together at a series of meetings to voice their concerns and ideas for the future of the three neighborhoods. Issues raised by participants included:
- A vision for the revitalization of North Main Street
- Growth opportunities for locally-owned, small businesses
- Improvements to public amenities such as Billy Taylor Park, Lippitt Park, and Blackstone Boulevard
- Need for more community gardens
- Housing affordability
- Public safety
- Need for a comprhensive sidewalk network
- Better road and sidewalk maintenence
- Character of new development
In November 2007, we returned to the neighborhood to present a series of strategies and actions based on what we heard during the charrette. Using the comments received at the follow-up meeting, we were able to create a draft neighborhood plan.
